Kundala Dam Munnar

Kundala Dam is situated about 20 Km from Munnar on the way to Munnar topstation, Mattupetti panchayat in Idukki district, Kerala, India. Kundala dam also known as Sethuparvati dam, is one of the most picturesque tourist attraction with the dam is built on the Muthirapuzha River, a tributary of the Periyar River. The dam was completed in 1947 and the release from the dam is to river Palar and Taluks through which release flow are Udumpanchola, Devikulam, Kothamangalam, Muvattupuzha, Kunnathunadu, Aluva, Kodungalllur and Paravoor. This picnic spot is surrounded by the green Western Ghats mountain range.Kundal dam was constructed under the Pallivasal hydroelectric project in Kerala in 1946.
